Taylor Swift has been in the headlines nonstop ever since she started dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
Between Kelce letting some woman dance up on him in the club, the one thing he finds annoying about her and him breaking one of Swift’s rules for him during his boys’ trip to Las Vegas, it has been one thing after another.
As a result, NFL fans have been learning more and more about Swift and her family.
Many were shocked to find out that her parents Andrea and Scott, who often appear with her, are separated. It is unclear whether they are officially legally divorced or not, but they are apparently ‘divorced’ in the sense that they reportedly separated a long time ago.
“They didn’t have a good relationship, the mother and father,” a source told the New York Daily News. “(Scott) used to tell me… ‘I got a wife that doesn’t love me. I’m trying to help my daughter out, and do all the right things, and my wife could care less.’”
Initially the pair tried to keep their problems out of the limelight for the sake of the family, but folks around them noticed what was going on.
“The Swifts stopped wearing their wedding rings,” Radar Online reported in 2012. “They haven’t filed for divorce because they don’t want it to damage Taylor’s career… Andrea being on tour with Taylor full-time has really been hard on her relationship with Scott.”
By 2014, the façade became even harder to maintain.
“They are not on the same page and don’t even like to be in the same room,” a source told Page Six at the time. “Andrea requests that her husband not be present at meetings.”
There are conflicting reports regarding whether or not Swift’s parents ultimately got legally divorced or not in 2012.
These days, though – it appears as though their relationship has improved significantly. In fact, after the Chiefs won their most recent Super Bowl, Swift decided to bring her parents along:
Reports surfaced recently that both sets of parents, Swift’s and Kelce’s, had been putting a lot of pressure on the couple as of late.
Given what occurred with her parents, though – it would be easy to see why Swift wouldn’t be in a rush to commit long-term.
That said, never say never.
Will Swift marry Kelce and fix all the things that her own parents wound up doing wrong? Time will tell.
